Epilogue: All is revealed... Maybe

The Game Master is sitting in a chair. In front of him a figure stands. "The Tournament is over. The announcers have all died we are ready to move on to the next phase of the pl-" the figure speaks before suddenly clutching his chest and collapsing to the ground. Hella walks into view.  "After your interaction with the Deep, I was wondering when you'd confront me yourself," The Game Master says watching her.  "I don't know what your plan is exactly, but whatever you're doing with these tournaments, it ends here." Hella announces.  The Game Master stands up. "You think you can stop me?!" he announces and Hella shakes her head. "Not by myself perhaps, but I know who can,"  Suddenly the Deep appears and tendrils launch out wrapping around the Game Master.  "What, but you died. You fell into the-" The Game Master exclaims. "-The unknowable void?" The Deep finishes. "Oh right..." The Game Master say...

Final Round: City-A-Gone!

The Deep, The Choir, the Archangel, EAT, the Dying Man, the Morsus Rabbit, and the Vision! Those are the lucky contestants left in our final round!  Now you may be wondering, how will this tournament continue if the Empty City itself, which this entire tournament is taking place inside of may I remind you, is no longer in existence? Well... We have a hell of an answer for you there, but a more important question is who am I?  Well... I'm The Announcer, that's right the one, the only, The Announcer... Iteration 235  And I'm here to announce the final round of this amazing contest.  Brought to you by the very slow death of the Empty City. See, we ensured that the Empty City would slowly fade and crumble as opposed to vanishing all at once so we could have this great final round. Our contestants today are standing on what might seem to be a solid floor, but beneath that solid floor there's nothing, but an endless void and as the City slowly fades away so will that floor...

Round 3; Ball Pit

Acelegin; Hello, everybody! I'm Acelegin, and welcome to round 3 of the 2021 Fearniversary tournament! I'm joined today by my co-host, Red Daniel. Red, you got anything to say? Red Daniel; Um, yeah, actually. How are we here? Acelegin; What do you mean? Red Daniel; Didn't we both die last year? Acelegin; I have no idea what you're talking about. Red Daniel; You don't remember? You broke my neck and then got hit by a flying car in the middle of hurricane. Acelegin; I don't recall. Red Daniel; Are you kidding me? We had, like, a really intense fight scene. Acelegin; Okay, Red, I have a question for you now. Red Daniel; What? Acelegin; How could you remember me getting hit by a car if you died first? Red Daniel; I... um... I'm not... sure... Acelegin; Exactly. Now shut up. We have an event to commentate on. Acelegin begins reading from a stack of papers in front of him. Acelegin; This event w...

We interrupt your  Fearniversary with blatant capitalism. --- *An idyllic scene of a country home. A child plays in the front yard with a dog while a father sits on a chair on the porch, smoking a pipe as he watches the child play. The door opens as the mother steps out holding a recently baked apple pie, the mother opens her mouth to speak before suddenly being eviscerated by black tentacles, the father suddenly becomes obscured by smoke and the back wall of the porch is splattered with blood as the sound of a gunshot goes off, the sound echoes getting louder as the child is grabbed and dragged into the sky by a swarm of birds and the dog drops dead, thousands of insects climbing out of it’s rapidly rotting carcass as the sky turns red. Gentle music starts playing as Peter Rivers appears in frame* Don’t you hate it when that happens?  *He begins to walk away as the camera follows him, more grisly scenes are shown behind him as he walks, a person being crushed in a rapidly...

Round Two: What's behind Door #1? It's Death!

Welcome back the the Fearniversary tournament. The last announcer died so I'll be stepping in. Whoa, Deja vu. Never mind that, let's take a look at what we have in store today. The stage this round is made up of five rows lined with doors. Only a handful of these doors are real and will allow the Fears to continue on. Half of the doors are just fakes that are impossible to open. Lastly there's a few Doors that lead to who knows where. Going through these Doors gets you immediately eliminated and possibly killed. One last note before we give the start signal: We put thick concrete walls above the doors. We don't want our flight capable contestants to cheat after all. Alright, the Fears are lined up behind the starting line. One, two, three and they are off! The Brute charges ahead and runs face first into a fake door. The Vision calmly opens a door and steps through. All the other Fears notice she has chosen a correct door and collectively make a run for that...

A look behind the scenes

We find the Deep walking backstage dragging it's slender feet. It approaches a door with a blue star on it. It's name is written on the star. It pauses for a moment. Drops of sweat run down it's featureless face. A tentacle appears and lifts up it's fedora, another wipes the sweat away. It puts the fedora back in place and opens the door. Beyond it lies total darkness. Finally a place where the Deep feels at ease. It steps inside and closes the door. Darkness envelops it, surrounded by the unknown it feels like home. It takes a moment to soak in the feeling. It feels its form melting away. Just as it starts feeling comfortable the room is flooded with light. The Deep recoils and hisses. On the other side of the empty room sits a figure wearing a cloak. The Deep's tentacles appear behind itself and start flailing menacingly. The figure looks up and reveals two glowing yellow eyes. The Deep's tentacles calm down at this sight. There is a moment of silence ...

Round One: In the Shadow of the Egg

Our contestants have been gathered in today's arena, which is in a castle that I didn't even know was in Empty City, Newcastle, England, although with a name like that I'm not entirely sure what I expected. They have been split into three teams, Red, Yellow, and Blue. On Team Red are the Dying Man, the Eye, the Grotesque, the Mother of Snakes, Night of the Living Fearblogs, the Quiet, the Smiling Man, the Vision, the Wooden Girl, and the Constant Wanderer; on Team Yellow are the Blind Man, the Burning Bride, the Cold Boy, EAT, the Manufactured Newborn, the Nightlanders, the Plague Doctor, the Rake, the Slender Man, and the Ivory Woman; on Team Blue are the Archangel, the Black Dog, the Brute, the Choir, the Convocation, the Deep, the Glitch, the Morsus Rabbit, the Red Cap, and the Woman in the Wind. They are all dressed in tracksuits that match the colour of their team (which makes the Red Cap, who is not on Team Red, really mad), even the ones who are either animals or ha...

Falling Down All These Fears

Hello ladies, gentlemen, and theydies. I am an AI made by the Manufactured Newborn (which definitely means I don't have any conflict of interest here or anything, trust me) to write like Terrence Anathema, since he was not available to write for us this year on account of being in some liminal space. It's been ten years since the world has been known to be graced by our dear eldritch enemies (to lovers, probably) the Fears, and so this year the Higher Ups have devised for their own entertainment a series of ridiculous challenges inspired by Fall Guys for our unknowable friends to undertake. Our team of commentators have descended onto the scene in Empty City, Cornwall, England to relay the events of the season to you, our dear readers.  This year we have a number of famous contestants with us this year, as well as a few underdogs of sorts who will be competing. Our contestants include: - The Archangel, who in his usual ridiculous gas mask - The Black Dog, who is a dog - The B...
